Autonomous robot vehicles have seen increasing adoption over the past few years. Combined with technological advancements in areas such as machine vision and artificial intelligence, robot vehicles can be deployed to ensure high levels of physical security. They have the potential to become credible alternatives to human patrol guards.

Security concerns and technological advancements are contributing to the physical security market growth

The global physical security market size was estimated to be at USD 102.9 billion in 2019 and is expected to reach USD 171.0 billion in 2027, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.5% during the forecasted period. (Source)

The growth in this market can be attributed to the increasing incidents of terror attacks and crimes committed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the advancements in technology, as well as the increased adoption of IoT-based security systems and cloud computing platforms have also contributed to this growth. (Source)

Security robots are becoming more modern and smart to improve security

There are more and more advanced technologies that are being incorporated into autonomous robot vehicles. As mentioned, AI and IoT technologies have already been adopted. With the arrival of 5G, cloud computing, and Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology (to allow vehicles to communicate with their surrounding moving parts of a traffic system), these technologies would truly modernize the robot vehicles for improved security applications.

AIoV, also called 爱上智能 in Chinese, is a new integrated driverless solution provider in China aiming to provide a variety of new fully automated services. The company is implementing all the aforementioned technologies to provide a fully integrated system for their smart vehicles AIoV. The vehicles would empower digital applications in traditional industries such as public security, traffic management, and community governance.

AIoV also has a system that can conveniently expand top loading applications. This modularity of the vehicle can allow the AIoV vehicles to be customizable and achieve broad desirable usages.

Implementing AI and IoT will make robot vehicles safer, smarter, and more integrated

Autonomous security robots can now be designed to take up duties of human patrol guards and other means for improving our physical security. This would allow cost savings and manpower reduction. Patrol security robots would also be useful in areas that may be of high threat to human guards and become an integral part of our future security system for protection.
